April 7, 2019
Angela + Michael’s story first started over three years ago, thanks to the Air Force for relocating Michael to California and Bumble for introducing the two of them in a 21st century kind of way. After being modern day pen-pals during Michael’s overseas deployment, their story really began in April of 2017 once he returned home to Hermosa. A marathon first date included brunch at the Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, beach time, antique shopping, gelato eating (a theme for future dates to come), and concluded at the Reagan Library (who doesn’t want a love like Ronnie and Nancy?). Sparks (and feelings of comfort) instantly flew and there was no turning back after that. Since that sunny April day, ice cream nights, sunset beach walks, and Costco runs have become a part of their date night vocabulary… and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
The PROPOSAL took place right where they fell in love, sunny southern California. Michael was blessed to design the ring with his father and would often sneak away to plan the details of every carat. When Angela was out of town on a work trip, he took Angela’s mom, Karen to brunch at Duke’s in Malibu to ask for her hand. After plenty of coffee and conversation Karen blessed their union and he was on top of the world ready to surprise Angela with the perfect day. He planned the engagement to take place at the spot of their first date, The Sunset Restaurant on Westward beach in Malibu. They spent the day sleeping in and having a relaxing morning followed by an adventure north on the Pacific Coast Highway as they had done many times before. As the waves crashed by on the drive he felt the peace of his forever companion and their shared love of life’s simple pleasures and enjoying God’s creation together. They arrived to dinner 20 minutes early. Prime time for a quick walk up the sand before relaxing for a glass of wine and enjoying the scenery of the open patio of the restaurant. A quick walk up to Point Dume at high tide resulted in a soaked pair of jeans for Michael, the type of perfectly imperfect moment they both relish. As chance would have it, a wedding was occurring on the beach directly in front of the restaurant and they spent their dinner observing, laughing, reminiscing and cheering on the bridal party as they processed out of the front of the restaurant. With a crisp refreshing breeze coming off the water and a cup of coffee finished, they ventured away from the restaurant to find the perfect sunset spot. The type of thing they’d done a hundred times before. It was gearing up to be a beautiful moment as the sun sank low over the water and the sky lit up in every shade of pink, orange, and purple imaginable. Watching the water move and holding her tight, Michael sank to one knee just as the sun sank below the horizon line. Time really did actually freeze. One of those moments you could just live in forever. Tears, yup lots of tears and a YES! Angela tackled him for a hug and a kiss as she said the best words he’s ever heard…yes, I do.
OH! Also, they got married at Adamson House where I got married!!!!
I absolutely love that Angela wore her father’s watch so she had a little piece of him with her during her wedding day.
Angela’s sweet mother, with the help of friends and some of the bridal party, set up the whole wedding!!!!
Thanks to all these vendors for making Angela and Michael’s wedding a dream!–
